Overview
Spacebloom is an iPhone app that frees up storage by finding the photos and videos people don't need: exact duplicates, bursts and near-identical shots, blurry and accidental photos, old screenshots, large videos and screen recordings. Results appear while the scan is still running, Smart Clean gathers everything that is safe to remove in one place, and large videos and photos can be compressed instead of deleted.
Why it exists
Running out of iPhone storage is common, and most of the space usually sits in the photo library: ten versions of the same shot, forgotten screenshots and long videos. Many cleaner apps upload photos, overpromise what they can clear or push a trial before showing anything useful.
Spacebloom was built to be the calm, honest version: analyze everything on the device, show real numbers before asking for anything, and never delete a photo without the person seeing it first.
Product decisions
- Everything stays on the iPhone. Duplicates, similarity, sharpness, faces, closed eyes and screenshot text are all analyzed on the device with Apple's Vision and PhotoKit. There are no servers, no analytics and no ads, and the privacy label says Data Not Collected.
- The best shot is picked for you. In every group of similar photos, one is chosen to keep by sharpness, face quality, open eyes and composition. It is always protected, along with favorites and frames the person picked, so one-tap cleanup can't remove the photo that mattered.
- Value before the paywall. The first scan shows results within seconds and keeps running in the background while people explore. The free tier scans and reviews everything and allows ten deletions, so people see the result before deciding on a subscription.
- Honest about what iOS allows. Deletions go through Apple's own confirmation and stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, and the app says so. It never claims to clear other apps' caches, which no iOS app can do.
- Save space without deleting. Large videos and photos can be compressed and Live Photos turned into stills, in batches with a Stop button and iCloud download progress. Slow-motion, Cinematic, Portrait and RAW originals are left untouched.
Outcome
Spacebloom turns a cluttered library into a short, reassuring routine: scan, review, clean, and see exactly how much space came back. It is built with SwiftUI, PhotoKit, Vision and StoreKit 2, includes a Home Screen widget and gentle reminders, and offers weekly, monthly and yearly plans without a trial. Version 1.0 is in App Review.
